Peter Louis Octet is a swinging jazz/Latin group based in New York City.   We feature original material and arrangements by Peter Louis Heilbroner, Michael Webster and Oscar Feldman.

Peter Louis Octet features acclaimed musicians from the NYC jazz world:  

Oscar Feldman (alto saxophone, flute) is a fiery soloist who has recorded and performed with Paquito D'Rivera, Caribbean Jazz Project, Bebo Valdez and many other jazz and Latin artists.  Oscar's albums - El Angel (1999), Oscar y Familia (2009), and Gol (2017) - include performances by the late Gato Barbieri and Claudio Roditti, and Paquito D'Rivera.  Oscar was born in Argentina and currently lives in NYC with his wife Sandra, a well known dancer, choreographer, and tangoist.

Michael Webster (tenor saxophone, flute) is a highly talented instrumentalist who is especially recognized for his arrangements and compositions.  Mike has written and arranged for Latin stars Arturo O'Farrill and Jon Benitez, led a 17-piece big band that performed regularly in NYC, and regularly performed in his quintet featuring trumpeter Ingrid Jensen.   Mike has released two albums , Leading Lines (2006) and Momentus (2011).

Fred Maxwell (trumpet) is a lyrical soloist who has performed or recorded with a dazzling array of musical luminaries, including Frank Sinatra, Alicia Keys, Dizzy Gillespie, Diana Ross, Tito Puente, The Temptations, Benny Golson, Freddie Hubbard, Clark Terry Big Band, Glen Miller Orchestra and too many more to fit!  Fred has lived and performed in Europe and currently resides just outside NYC with his wife, Broadway performer and singer Anika Larsen.

Matthew McDonald (trombone) has performed at the Village Vanguard, The Blue Note,  Birdland and Carnegie Hall, and with The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra.  Matt has toured many jazz festivals, and has just released his album The Long Wait (2024).

Peter Louis Heilbroner (compositions, arrangements, guitar, vocals) has released two albums of original tunes and arrangements:  On the Avenue (2018) and Ring Shadows (2022), both featuring players from the Peter Louis Octet.   He has performed with or led groups including Danny Small Band, Sahara, Dr. Jazz, Earl and the Strokes, Street Life, Crosscurrents, and The Tone Police, with performances in New York and Massachusetts.  

Nanae Atarashi (piano, keyboards) performed jazz piano for many years in her native Japan.  She has studied with George Cables.  Nanae teaches and performs in NYC.  

Art Guevarra (acoustic and electric bass) has toured with Phoebe Snow, Deodato, Lou Rawls, Bette Midler, Buddy Miles, and Joe Frazier (yes, that Joe Frazier).  

John Marino (drums) performs with many jazz groups in the NYC area.
